First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tested whether giving patients fluids based on their weight before surgery could prevent low blood pressure after anesthesia. 110 women having gynecological pelvic surgery were split into two groups: one received extra fluids, the other followed standard fasting. The results showed that preemptive fluids helped reduce the risk of post-induction hypotension.
