Scientists probe hidden heart risks in women after dangerous pregnancy condition

NCT ID NCT07345845

Summary

This study aims to understand why women who had preeclampsia often have ongoing blood vessel inflammation and dysfunction, which can increase future heart disease risk. Researchers will test if a specific receptor in the body is overactive and contributing to the problem, and if a medication (eplerenone) can help calm this inflammation. They will enroll 40 women, some with and some without a history of preeclampsia, for two lab visits involving small skin tests and blood draws.
