Steroid trial for heart failure shows promise in reducing inflammation
NCT ID NCT05668676
First seen Jan 24, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tested whether a 7-day course of the steroid prednisone, started in the emergency department, could lower inflammation in patients with acute heart failure. Only 3 people took part, and the main goal was to see changes in a blood marker called C-reactive protein (CRP). The approach aims to ease symptoms and improve outcomes, but the very small size means results are very limited.
