Can we spot kidney danger early in sick kids?

NCT ID NCT07517939

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study aims to find early warning signs of acute kidney injury in children admitted to the intensive care unit. Researchers will monitor 100 children, tracking their medical history, daily fluid intake, urine output, and lab tests. The goal is to identify which risk factors—like sepsis or use of a breathing machine—most strongly predict kidney injury, so doctors can act sooner.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help doctors identify children at risk for acute kidney injury earlier, potentially preventing severe kidney damage.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It will not test any new drug or therapy, so it cannot directly improve outcomes.
