Breathing test might predict ventilator weaning failure

NCT ID NCT05358405

First seen Feb 18, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study aimed to see if a simple breathing test (Müller maneuver) could predict which patients on ventilators would develop lung fluid buildup (pulmonary edema) during a spontaneous breathing trial. The test measures how the heart responds to a deep breath effort. The study was withdrawn before enrolling any participants, so no results are available.
