CT scans could help spot High-Risk blood clot patients
NCT ID NCT05098769
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether information from CT scans, along with lab tests, can predict which patients with a blood clot in the lungs (pulmonary embolism) will have serious problems within 30 days. Researchers will collect data from 300 patients to build a prediction tool. The goal is to help doctors identify high-risk patients earlier so they can receive more intensive care.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple tool that helps doctors quickly identify which pulmonary embolism patients are at highest risk of serious complications.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. The tool may not be accurate enough to change patient outcomes, and results may not apply to all patients.
