First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study looked at 90 adults with acute respiratory failure who needed high-flow oxygen therapy. Researchers used a special imaging technique called Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) to create a new index that might predict if the oxygen therapy will fail within 48 hours. The goal is to find a better way to monitor patients and avoid delays in switching to more advanced breathing support.
