Searching for clues to avoid unnecessary heart stents
NCT ID NCT03479723
Summary
This study analyzed existing medical data from 1,793 people who had a type of heart attack called acute coronary syndrome. The goal was to find common signs or 'predictors' that a patient's heart attack was caused by a specific problem called plaque erosion, rather than a ruptured plaque. If doctors can predict plaque erosion from simple patient information, they might be able to treat some people with medication alone instead of an invasive stent procedure.
