PET scans could spot hidden heart danger before it strikes
NCT ID NCT03493516
First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a special PET scan can help doctors predict who is at highest risk for sudden cardiac arrest in people with blocked heart arteries and heart failure. About 300 adults who already have a defibrillator (ICD) implanted will be followed over time. The goal is to see if measuring nerve damage in the heart, heart size, or certain blood markers gives a better warning than the current standard method.
