Can a simple ultrasound predict cancer after molar pregnancy?

NCT ID NCT07333326

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study will use Doppler ultrasound to measure blood flow in the uterine artery before and after removing a molar pregnancy. The goal is to see if these measurements can predict which patients will develop persistent gestational trophoblastic neoplasia, a type of cancer. Researchers will follow 175 women with complete hydatidiform mole to compare those who recover with those who develop complications.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help doctors identify which patients need closer monitoring after a molar pregnancy, potentially catching complications earlier.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not lead to a direct benefit for participants, and the results might not change current care.
