Muscle scan & handshake test could predict surgery risk for elderly

NCT ID NCT07332052

Summary

This study aims to find quick, objective ways to measure frailty in older adults (65+) who need surgery for a broken hip. Researchers will test if a simple muscle ultrasound, a handgrip strength test, and routine blood work can accurately predict a patient's frailty level. If successful, these tools could help doctors better plan and manage surgery for high-risk elderly patients to improve safety and recovery.
