Ultrasound may help avoid unnecessary fluids in ventilated children
NCT ID NCT05054452
First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether ultrasound measurements of the heart and major blood vessels can predict which sedated children on breathing machines will respond to intravenous fluids with improved blood flow. Only 4 children participated, and the goal was to see if adult-based methods work in children. The findings could help doctors give fluids only to those who need them, avoiding harm from excess fluid.
