Ultrasound may guide fluid therapy in sick kids, but tiny study leaves questions
NCT ID NCT05054452
First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study looked at whether ultrasound measurements of the heart and blood vessels can predict which children on breathing machines will benefit from extra fluids. Only 4 children participated, so the findings are very limited. The goal was to find a better way to avoid giving unnecessary fluids, which can be harmful.
