New scan could replace risky vein test for curable high blood pressure
NCT ID NCT06833437
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a special PET/CT scan (68Ga-Pentixafor) is as good as the standard adrenal vein sampling (AVS) at identifying which adrenal gland is causing high blood pressure and excess cortisol. About 178 adults with both conditions will be randomly assigned to one test first, then the other. The goal is to see if the scan can replace the more invasive vein test, making diagnosis easier and safer.
