Custom ventilation may boost survival in lung failure patients

Summary
This study compares standard mechanical ventilation to a personalized, lung-stress oriented strategy in 1,100 adults with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The goal is to see if tailoring the breathing machine settings to each patient can improve survival. Participants are randomly assigned to one of two ventilation approaches.
