Precision dosing could make stem cell transplants safer for Non-Cancer patients

NCT ID NCT05501756

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This trial investigates whether giving a personalized dose of alemtuzumab (a drug that calms the immune system) before a stem cell transplant can improve outcomes for people with non-malignant diseases. Researchers aim to find the right dose that balances effectiveness and safety. About 60 participants will receive a tailored dose, and the study will measure whether drug levels in the blood hit a target range on transplant day.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Alemtuzumab (Campath)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a safer, more effective way to prepare patients for stem cell transplants, reducing complications and improving recovery.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase trial, so results may not apply to everyone. Alemtuzumab can weaken the immune system, increasing infection risk.
