Breath and blood test could spot lung cancer earlier, reduce false positives
NCT ID NCT07370077
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing a new way to screen for early lung cancer using a combination of breath analysis, blood tests, and CT scans. Researchers aim to reduce the high rate of false positives from CT scans alone. They will enroll 1,800 participants, including people with lung cancer, benign nodules, and healthy controls, to build a more accurate diagnostic model.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Multi-omics diagnostic test (breath and blood analysis plus CT imaging)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a more accurate, non-invasive screening method for early lung cancer, reducing unnecessary biopsies and false alarms.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. The new method may not prove more accurate than current CT screening, and results may not apply to all populations.
