Can cooling vests in ambulances save more brains after cardiac arrest?

NCT ID NCT07421882

First seen Feb 22, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tests whether cooling cardiac arrest patients right after their heartbeat returns, using a special vest in the ambulance, is practical and safe. About 50 adults who remain unconscious after cardiac arrest will be cooled by paramedics before reaching the hospital. The goal is to see if this early cooling can be done smoothly and to gather information for a larger future study on improving brain recovery.
