Boosting the Body's defenses before cancer surgery
NCT ID NCT03984578
Summary
This study tested if adding a drug called pembrolizumab to standard pre-surgery treatments could help the body's immune system fight colorectal cancer. It involved 33 patients with non-metastatic colon or rectal cancer who received the immunotherapy along with their usual chemotherapy or chemoradiation before their operation. The main goal was to see how the treatment changed the immune cells within the tumor itself.
