Pre-Pregnancy weight loss may shield kids from obesity

NCT ID NCT05621109

First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether helping overweight or obese women lose about 10% of their body weight before getting pregnant can lower the chance of their baby being born with too much body fat or becoming overweight in early childhood. About 240 women (and their partners, if they choose) will be split into two groups: one gets a weight loss program, the other gets usual care. The goal is to see if starting healthier before pregnancy leads to healthier babies.
