Researchers will measure balance before and after surgery, and track changes over two years. The goal is to understand if surgery can improve balance and quality of life in this group.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Decompressive surgery
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could show that surgery improves balance in elderly patients, potentially leading to better quality of life and more people being offered surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small observational study (80 participants) with no control group, so results may not apply to everyone. It measures balance changes but does not test a new treatment.
