Summary
This study aims to improve postpartum care for high-risk women in the Mississippi Delta, especially Black women. Researchers will test a community-based program that focuses on building trust, improving health literacy, and strengthening family support. The goal is to reduce severe maternal health problems and deaths by connecting patients more closely with their healthcare providers.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a practical, community-driven model to reduce maternal deaths and health disparities in rural areas.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage behavioral study with 250 participants in a specific region, so results may not apply elsewhere. It measures trust and literacy, not direct health outcomes.
