NCT ID NCT07505758

First seen Apr 09, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study follows 600 patients aged 80 and older who are having planned surgery requiring a hospital stay. Researchers will ask patients to fill out a questionnaire about their recovery before surgery and at several points afterward. The goal is to understand recovery from the patient's own perspective, not just through medical records.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could help doctors better understand and improve recovery for elderly patients after surgery by focusing on what matters most to them.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial, so it won't directly change care. Results may not apply to all older adults or surgeries.

As listed by the trial registrant
