Could seizures trigger hidden psychotic symptoms? new study investigates

NCT ID NCT07471334

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study will track 110 people with drug-resistant focal epilepsy during a hospital stay to see how often they develop mild psychotic symptoms after seizures. Researchers will use psychiatric interviews and questionnaires at three time points. The goal is to better understand these symptoms and find ways to identify them early.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If this study succeeds, it could help doctors spot early warning signs of post-seizure psychosis and develop ways to prevent it.

What could go wrong

This is an early observational study with only 110 people, so results may not apply to everyone. It is not testing a treatment, so it won't directly change care yet.
