Summary
This study aims to understand why pain after spine surgery is often more severe and harder to manage for people with opioid use disorder. Researchers will compare 40 patients with and without opioid use, collecting small blood and skin samples to look for biological differences in how pain is processed. The goal is to identify markers that could lead to better, personalized pain management strategies after surgery.
