The hidden pain of survival: major study probes ICU aftermath

NCT ID NCT07180407

Summary

This study aims to understand why some people develop long-term pain after surviving a serious illness in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Researchers will follow 800 Danish ICU survivors for up to a year, asking about their pain, sleep, mood, and quality of life. The goal is to identify risk factors and biological markers to better predict and eventually prevent this chronic pain.
