Which dental cement hurts less? new study aims to find out
NCT ID NCT07102121
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two types of dental cement used to attach crowns and bridges: a newer resin-modified glass ionomer cement and a conventional glass ionomer cement. The goal is to see which one causes less tooth sensitivity after the procedure. About 496 people aged 15 to 70 with healthy teeth will take part, and their pain levels will be measured using a simple 0-to-10 scale.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
dental cement (resin-modified glass ionomer cement and conventional glass ionomer cement)
What this could lead to
If one cement clearly causes less discomfort, dentists may switch to it, making crown and bridge procedures more comfortable for patients.
What could go wrong
This is a small, single-center study. Results may not apply to all patients or dental practices, and the difference between cements might be small.
