First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tests whether removing a breathing tube while keeping the lungs slightly inflated (positive pressure) can prevent dangerous drops in oxygen levels after abdominal surgery. About 264 adults having planned abdominal surgery will be randomly assigned to one of three extubation methods. The goal is to see which technique leads to fewer oxygen desaturations and lung complications.
