First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study follows 345 adults to learn how COVID-19 may cause lasting damage to the lungs, heart, and kidneys. Researchers will compare people who had COVID-19 with those who did not, using blood tests, breathing tests, and heart scans. The goal is to find early warning signs and create guidelines to prevent long-term health problems.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to better tools for predicting and preventing long-term organ damage after COVID-19.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It will not test any new drug or therapy, so it cannot directly improve health.
