Spleen injury study tests vaccine protection
NCT ID NCT02232191
First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looks at how well the pneumonia vaccine works in people who have injured their spleen. The spleen helps fight infections, so people without a working spleen are at higher risk. Researchers will compare the vaccine response in patients who had different treatments for their spleen injury, such as monitoring, a procedure to block blood flow, or spleen removal. The goal is to see which group gets the best protection from the vaccine.
