New combo therapy targets early skin cancer: hope or hype?
NCT ID NCT06235281
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This pilot study tests whether combining a targeted drug (mogamulizumab) with ultraviolet light therapy (phototherapy) can better control early-stage mycosis fungoides, a type of skin lymphoma. Twenty adults with stage IA-IIA disease will receive the drug for 8 cycles and add phototherapy from day 56. The main goal is to see how many patients achieve complete or partial clearing of skin lesions. The trial is currently on hold.

- Active substance
- Mogamulizumab (POTELIGEO) plus phototherapy (nb-UVB)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this combination could offer a more effective way to control early-stage mycosis fungoides, potentially reducing skin lesions and delaying progression.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very early, small pilot study (20 people) with no comparison group. The trial is currently suspended, and results may not apply to all patients. Risks include side effects from the drug or phototherapy.
