Simple blood test could help doctors gauge sepsis severity

NCT ID NCT07039227

Summary

This study aimed to see if measuring 'young' platelets in a routine blood test could help predict how sick a patient with severe sepsis might become. Researchers followed 196 adults admitted to intensive care with sepsis or septic shock. They checked if the level of these young platelets at admission was linked to the risk of death or organ failure within 28 days.
