Can a Plant-Based diet tame dangerous inherited cholesterol?
NCT ID NCT05181553
Summary
This study tested whether switching to a whole food plant-based diet could lower 'bad' LDL cholesterol in adults with a genetic condition causing very high cholesterol. For the study, 50 participants stopped their cholesterol medication and tried two different diets for four weeks each: a healthy plant-based diet and a typical North American diet. Researchers measured cholesterol levels and other blood markers to see which diet was better for heart health and to find a 'blood signature' of healthy eating.
