First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding stem cells from the placenta to fetal surgery can improve how well babies with spina bifida can walk and control their bladder and bowels. About 55 pregnant women carrying babies with the condition will receive the treatment. The goal is to see if the stem cells are safe and help protect the spinal cord during development.
