Scientists probe hidden brain effects in PKU gene carriers

Summary
This study aims to understand if adults who carry the gene for PKU (phenylketonuria) experience changes in brain chemistry, thinking skills, or brain activity after consuming protein. Researchers will compare 18 PKU carriers to 18 non-carriers. Participants will take a protein or placebo drink and then complete brain scans and thinking tests at several points throughout the day.
