New combo may offer safer cholesterol control for elderly heart patients
NCT ID NCT07626840
First seen Jun 07, 2026 · Last updated Jun 10, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares a combination of two cholesterol-lowering drugs (pitavastatin and ezetimibe) to high-dose statins alone in patients aged 75 and older who have had a heart procedure. The goal is to see if the combo is just as effective at preventing future heart attacks, strokes, and other events, while causing fewer side effects like muscle pain or liver problems. About 5,000 participants will be followed for major cardiovascular events.
