NCT ID NCT06618521

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether Pilates or circuit exercise training could help lower blood pressure and improve cholesterol levels in 69 pregnant women with gestational hypertension. All women also received standard blood pressure medication. The exercises were done three times a week for 12 weeks starting at 20 weeks of pregnancy. The goal was to see if adding exercise to medication provides extra benefits for managing blood pressure and lipids.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Pilates exercise and circuit exercise training

What this could lead to

If effective, these exercises could offer a safe, drug-free way to help manage blood pressure and cholesterol during pregnancy.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed trial with 69 participants, so results may not apply to all pregnant women. Exercise alone may not control severe hypertension.
