Your phone could help diagnose a dangerous sleep disorder

NCT ID NCT04022460

Summary

This study is testing whether short video clips recorded by parents on their smartphones can help screen children with Down syndrome for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Parents and doctors will watch the videos and guess if the child has OSA, and then compare those guesses to results from a formal sleep study. The goal is to see if this simple home method can help identify which children need to be prioritized for faster diagnosis and treatment.
