NCT ID NCT05141019
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether giving patients genetic test results early can help doctors choose better medications. About 492 adults with at least three prescriptions will be randomly assigned to get immediate or delayed genetic testing. The goal is to see if this approach improves how satisfied patients feel with their medications.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
pharmacogenetic testing
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that preemptive genetic testing helps personalize medications and improve patient satisfaction, especially in underserved groups.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage feasibility study with 492 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The main outcome is patient satisfaction, not clinical health improvements.
