New PET scan may predict cancer drug success in days, not months
NCT ID NCT04020978
First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tested a new way to use PET scans to see if targeted therapy for kidney cancer is working much earlier than usual. Instead of waiting months for standard scans, researchers measured tumor blood flow and volume within days to weeks of starting treatment. The study involved 11 patients and aimed to see if these early changes could predict later tumor shrinkage, potentially helping patients avoid ineffective treatments sooner.
