New PET scan could save months of useless cancer treatment
NCT ID NCT04020978
First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tested a new type of PET scan to see if it could detect whether targeted therapy for genitourinary cancer (like kidney cancer) is working within days or weeks, instead of months. Eleven patients were scanned before and after starting treatment. The goal was to see if early changes in tumor blood flow could predict later tumor shrinkage, helping patients avoid ineffective treatments sooner.
