New scan could spare thousands from unnecessary kidney surgery

Summary
This study is testing whether a combined PET/MR scan can better identify which kidney tumors are aggressive and need treatment, versus those that are harmless or slow-growing. About 97 adults with suspicious kidney masses will get the scan during their regular MRI visit. Researchers hope this will reduce unnecessary surgeries and help guide safer care.
