Can less radiation be just as good for hodgkin lymphoma?
NCT ID NCT07256158
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This phase 3 trial is testing whether a lower dose of radiation (20 Gy) is as effective as the standard dose (30 Gy) for people with early-stage, unfavorable Hodgkin lymphoma. Only patients whose cancer shows a complete metabolic response after two cycles of chemotherapy will be included. The goal is to reduce side effects while maintaining the same level of cancer control.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Radiation therapy (involved site radiotherapy)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could allow many Hodgkin lymphoma patients to receive a lower, safer dose of radiation without reducing the chance of keeping the cancer from coming back.
- What could go wrong
- This is a non-inferiority trial, so the lower dose might prove slightly less effective. The results apply only to patients who already had a good response to two cycles of chemotherapy, not everyone.
