Can PET-CT scans better predict breast cancer treatment success?
NCT ID NCT07173868
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing whether a special type of PET-CT scan (F-18 FDG PET-CT) can better track how well treatment is working in people with advanced breast cancer compared to standard imaging like CT scans. Researchers will follow 100 patients for 48 weeks after they start their first systemic therapy. The goal is to see if the PET-CT scan gives a clearer picture of treatment response, which could help doctors make better decisions.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
F-18 FDG PET-CT imaging
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that PET-CT scans are better than standard imaging at predicting outcomes, potentially guiding more personalized treatment decisions.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study with only 100 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. It compares imaging methods, not treatments, so it won't directly improve outcomes.
