Brain zapping tailored to you: new hope for stroke recovery?

NCT ID NCT07150169

First seen Jun 26, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tests a new way to use magnetic stimulation (TMS) to help stroke survivors recover thinking and memory. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, researchers will use brain scans to find the exact spot to stimulate for each person. The study will include 10 healthy people and 15 stroke patients to see if this personalized method can temporarily improve performance on a memory task.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a personalized treatment approach for cognitive deficits after stroke, improving memory and thinking skills.
What could go wrong
This is a very early, small study (25 people) focused on validating a method, not proving effectiveness. It may not translate into a real-world treatment.
