Smarter radiation: could less be more for throat cancer patients?

NCT ID NCT06563362

First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving radiation to fewer lymph nodes in the neck, based on each patient's cancer spread, can reduce side effects without increasing the risk of cancer returning. About 120 adults with newly diagnosed oropharynx cancer will receive standard (chemo)radiotherapy but with a personalized, smaller radiation field. The main goal is to see how many patients develop new lymph node tumors outside the treated area within 2 years.
