New MRI technique could supercharge brain tumor treatment

NCT ID NCT05086497

First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests a more precise way to place electrodes on the scalp for glioblastoma patients receiving Optune therapy, which uses electrical fields to kill cancer cells. By using advanced MRI to map the full extent of the tumor, researchers hope to deliver a stronger dose to the right areas, potentially slowing tumor growth and improving survival. About 155 adults with glioblastoma will be randomly assigned to standard or personalized electrode placement.
