Scientists test custom cancer vaccine made from Patient's own tumor

NCT ID NCT01753089

Summary

This early-stage study tested a new, personalized vaccine for people with advanced melanoma that had spread. Doctors created the vaccine for each patient using proteins from their own tumor cells, combined with immune-boosting agents, and placed it under the skin in a small, dissolvable tablet. The main goals were to see if the vaccine could be made safely, to check for side effects, and to learn if it could trigger the patient's immune system to attack their cancer.
