Study tests if less medication can be safer for COPD patients

NCT ID NCT04481555

Summary

This study tested a personalized approach to reduce inhaled steroid medication in people with severe COPD. Researchers used regular blood tests to guide when to lower steroid doses, aiming to control COPD flare-ups while reducing medication side effects like pneumonia and diabetes. The study also examined whether adding a low-dose antibiotic could help prevent flare-ups and keep patients out of the hospital.
