Gene-Matched cancer therapy tested in 400 patients with aggressive tumors
NCT ID NCT05674825
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is testing whether giving cancer treatment based on a person's unique tumor genetic profile can help patients with aggressive, hard-to-treat cancers. Researchers will analyze each patient's tumor to find specific genetic changes and then recommend a targeted drug. The trial aims to see how many patients can actually receive a genetically matched therapy. It is open to adults with solid tumors that have a high risk of death within two years.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
molecularly targeted drugs based on genetic profiling
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could show that personalizing cancer therapy based on a tumor's genetic makeup improves outcomes for patients with aggressive cancers that currently have few good options.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase (1/2) trial, so it's primarily testing feasibility, not yet effectiveness. The benefit of matching treatment to genetic profile is unproven, and many patients may not have an actionable mutation.
